A nail in your tyre, a screw on the road, or a sharp piece of debris can cause a puncture in seconds. It's frustrating, inconvenient, and often worrying — but in many cases, it doesn't mean you need a brand new tyre. Our mobile puncture repair service can assess the damage on-site and carry out a professional repair if it's safe to do so.
We follow strict industry guidelines (BS AU 159) to determine whether a puncture is repairable. If the damage is within the repairable area of the tread and the tyre structure is sound, we'll carry out a mushroom plug repair from the inside — the same method used by professional tyre fitting centres. This restores the tyre's integrity and allows you to drive safely for the full remaining life of the tyre.
The Puncture Repair Process
When you call us for a puncture repair, here's what happens: our technician arrives at your location, removes the wheel from your vehicle, and conducts a thorough inspection. We check the location, size, and angle of the puncture, assess the internal condition of the tyre, and look for any secondary damage. If the puncture is repairable, we carry out the repair on the spot. If not, we'll explain why honestly and discuss replacement options.
Our repair process involves removing the tyre from the wheel, preparing the puncture area, inserting a mushroom plug from inside the tyre, and then resealing and reinflating it. We then balance the wheel and refit it to your vehicle, checking the torque settings to manufacturer specifications.
When a Tyre Cannot Be Repaired
Not all punctures can be repaired safely. UK industry standards state that a tyre cannot be repaired if the puncture is in the sidewall or shoulder area, if the damage is larger than 6mm, if the tyre has been driven while flat (causing internal structural damage), or if there are multiple punctures too close together. In these cases, we'll advise you honestly and can supply and fit a replacement tyre on the spot if needed.
